Reading Diaries and Reading Challenge

  • Reading diaries are sent home on Monday and returned to school on Friday

  • Through the week, please record in the reading diary each time your child reads.  Ideally, this will be their their reading book from school.
  • The reading diaries need to be returned to school every Friday, please, in order for us to quarantine them before checking the child's reading frequency and returning the diaries home the following Monday.
  • As soon as your child has finished with a school book please return it to school so we can quarantine it before returning it to the central stock. We will endeavour to issue a new book to your child as soon as possible.
  • Our reading challenge is starting which means children need to be reading at least 4 times a week at home. Hopefully, your child will read other material such as favourite books at home or books online, especially over the weekend so please also record this in the diaries when you have them.

PE lessons will begin on MONDAY 14th SEPTEMBER for both Class 7 and 8. The children will need to wear their PE kit to school every MONDAY during Term 1. They should wear a plain red or white t-shirt, plain jogging bottoms or shorts and a jumper as well as trainers. PE is outdoors this term. Can we also remind you that long hair will need to be tied back and earrings removed.

You should have received a letter informing of the dates your child will be doing forest schools this term, as the class has to be split. These dates are:

Class 7: either 8th,10th, 22nd, 24th September OR 15th, 17th, 29th September and 1st October.

Class 8: either 6th, 13th, 20th October and 3rd November OR 8th, 15th, 22nd October and 5th November.

Children will need to wear their school uniform but need to bring waterproof trousers, waterproof coat and wellies so that these can be worn over their uniforms.

Your child has received a book in which they will complete their weekly home learning task.  Due to the current restrictions in place we will unfortunately have to ask that the book remains at home for the time being. Each week a new sheet detailing the spellings and task set by your child's teacher will be sent home. Please support your child in completing the activities in their homework book. If you wish to send a photograph or electronic version of your child' s home learning please do so via the school office.

Many thanks for your continued support and understanding.
