Reading at St Anne's

Meet our School Librarians!

We are excited to announce, after receiving an incredible 70 applications for our School Librarian roles, that we have selected 8 Year 5/6 book-loving librarians.  All of the applications were brilliant and a big well done to all of those who put themselves forward for the role. The librarians will assist in the library with a variety of tasks as well as promote a love of reading through the school.

Here are our School Librarians of 2022, with a selection of their favourite books!

Hi, we are the year 5 and 6 librarians. We are Amelia S, Elise, Jacob, and Jack T from Year 6, and Amelia P, Freya, William, and Toby from Year 5.

Messages from the Year 6s

Hello, I am Jacob, one of the Year 6 Librarians. I enjoy reading because it helps your imagination and is useful. I particularly enjoy reading fiction books. I like being a librarian because I can share books with others.

Hello, my name is Jack T, one of the Year 6 Librarians. I enjoy reading action, horror and fantasy books. I enjoy those type of books because they make me feel more ecstatic. I like being a librarian because I like to share some of my favourite books with others and make the library a better place to be!

Hello I am Amelia S, one of the Year 6 Librarians. I enjoy reading because I can use my imagination and I wanted to be a Librarian because I want to inspire others to read and help improve the library to be more welcoming and cosy!

Hi I’m Elise. I love reading became it lets you gets you away from the real world when you’re stressed. I am very sociable and kind to anyone. I became a Librarian to inspire others to read more and make the library a more brilliant place to be in.

Bye from all of us !

St Anne’s Reading Challenge

To celebrate all the reading you are doing at home, why not have a go at our Reading Challenge and see if you can grab yourself a class treat! Your challenge is to read at least 4 times each week for at least 10 minutes each time.

  1. Read at home as often as you can and record it in your reading record, getting a parent to sign it.
  2. If you manage to read 4 times or more in a week, your teacher will put a sticker on the class reading challenge display.
  3. At the end of the week, the class with the most readers will receive the school reading trophy!
  4. At the end of each term, the class with the most readers will receive a class treat (previous prizes include: extra play, class film and non-school uniform days!)
  5. Happy reading and don’t forget to ask a parent to sign your reading record.
