Our Values, Ethos and Vision
'Let your light shine before others' Matthew 5:15-16
At St Anne’s we provide a caring, happy and secure environment based upon Christian teachings and beliefs in which all members of the school community are equally valued and respected. We are committed to promoting enthusiasm for lifelong learning and encouraging everyone to be responsible members of the wider community.
Our Vision:
Our Vision for St Anne’s is to nurture and develop the whole child through our Christian values, enabling them to reach their full potential in all aspects of life.
Jesus taught us in the Sermon on the Mount 'let your lights shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven' Matthew 5: 15-16 and this important lesson underpins everything that we do. It helps us promote confidence, wisdom, aspiration, resilience and independence in every child. It is key in developing in every child. It is key in developing partnerships with parents, the local community and the church. It underpins the learning and environment in school and ties together Christian values.
Our Mission:
Christian Values
These values are presented each term. At St Anne's we work on a three year cycle covering 18 values. Links between the values are referred to at all times, as and when appropriate. This helps the children to realise that values are connected to each other and also to recognise how those links can be made. Whatever the theme, the whole school community are encouraged to see the values in the light of the way they behave and the decisions they make.
Our values tree is located outside of our school hall. Children who demonstrate the value of the term are recognised and celebrated. A leaf is placed on the tree with a short explanation.
Collective Worship
At St Anne's we work with the local vicar and other church members to plan and deliver acts of worship.
Collective worship gives pupils and school staff the opportunity to:
Children are actively encouraged to engage in daily collective worship as well as lead collective worship. Values based collective worship uses materials created by Imaginor publications or the Values for Life materials. Collective worship provides a space and a place for the telling of the Christian story, the mutual giving and receiving of worth as well as times of reflection and prayer. We hold class collective worship each week which enables the children to reflect on the school value, play an active part in worship and create prayers for the school prayer tree.
